We can see giant pandas everywhere, for example, on the TV shows, magazines, advertisements and so on. So, many people think that it is the time to remove the giant panda out of endangered species. However, according to the Smithsonian mammalogist Miles Roberts, if people can’t help giant panda rise their birth rate, they will be extinct in 30 years! How can we believe that these extremely cute animal will disappear in 30 years? In order to protect these adorable pandas, in this essay I will discuss some reasons about why giant panda become endangered species.
The first reason that lead to the giant pandas die out is their low birth rate. Research shows that the average longevity of wild panda is about 15 years, and the females have 5-7 years child-bearing period. Since giant panda only can have at most two babies in one birth, they only can have 3 or 4 babies in their whole life. But even worse, if they have two babies at the same time in the wild, the mother does not have enough ability to raise them together. [1] Then, always one of them can survive. What’s more, according to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, when the male and female pandas moving to sexual maturity, they are ready to have a baby, due to the female panda just have 2-3 days rutting sedson in a year, it is so hard get pregnant in such short time. [2] Then, this peculiarity made giant panda have problems to have the next generation. In addition, before China took this problem seriously, the number of giant panda in 1970s was roughly 2500[3]. Owing to the careless about giant panda, the figure decreased dramatically to about 1500[4]. So, the successful rate of wild birth is pretty low and it can lead to seriousness consequences. Secondly, food lack is another important reason. First of all, “all bamboo species have very limited dispersal ability; they reproduce mainly asexually by growing new shoots from their rhizomes that have a growth rate of less than 6 m per year (Fan, H.H., 1999) [5].” So that mean bamboo need time to growth and it growth speed is quite low. Because of giant panda need eat about 23-40 kg bamboo every day, the lower growth rate of bamboo can lead to the food lack problem. Then, the global warming would change the species of bamboo in specific area that the local panda depends upon. For example, the climate warm can make bamboo grow in northern area substitute for the southern area species, and the bamboo in northern area is just vanish [6]. Additionally, it is generally known that after bamboo bloom, they will die quickly. If bamboo disappear, giant pandas in this area will die[7]. Thirdly, natural disaster can cause giant panda’s extinction, too. According to the Fourth Officially Researching Data of Giant Panda, 74.4% pandas live in Sichuan Province. However, there were 93 times earthquake in Sichuan Province in 2014 according to the China Earthquake Administration. That means earthquakes can make serious damages for the giant panda’s habitat. Furthermore, according to the Journal of Mountain Science, “2008 Wenchuan earthquake destroy giant panda’s habitats” [8]. Thanks to this horrible earthquake, “there are 1313 landslides, 818 rock debris flows, 117 rock avalanches and 43 mud flows occurred in the study area.[9]” It made the Wolong Natural Reserve suffering grievous lost in many ways. In addition, the article “Climate change threatens giant panda protection in the 21st century” results suggested that the violent changes of environments can decay the habitats of giant pandas. For instance, “52.9–71.3% of the current habitats could be lost” [10] in next couple of decades. And because of that the giant pandas would die of starvation on the way removing. The last but not lest reason is human’s behaviors. People can change the environment into a more comfortable place for themselves. However, the changed place just suitable for human, others species would force to leave or lost their life. Like the director of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, Zhang Hemin says “We humans are used to changing the environment to suit our needs.” Due to hurting the environment for couple of centuries, many wild animal habitats have been damaged or distorted totally. Normally, giant pandas would choose to move backward, but unfortunately there is no place to move and they will find no food in this area, they will starve. After that, people try to fix their mistakes by build man-made forest for giant pandas. Yet, this is useless, because research shows that there are no evidences indicated wild giant pandas will stay in man-made forest [11]. Therefore, wild giant pandas are just choosing inartificial forest be their habitats. As the result, I disagree to move giant panda out of endangered species. It is necessary to continuing protect them and find better way to boost their members. Reference:

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
My aunt is a teacher in Beijing Normal University, and she believes in this proverb. She is a excellent teacher and the students always love her. However, she is so humble and easy-going, she said that what she does is show the way, and gives a direction to the students. So she never forces students to do their homework, she will happy if they do it , but if not she won’t punish them. And all she said to the students is : be responsible for yourself. I like her teach style very much, and her students, too. Because her students visited her home all the time, even they had greduated from the university. They talked about their work and the problems in their career and life, then my aunt just listened nodded. They always find their ways to fixed the problems. ”Life changes too much. 50 years ago, there were no such things like private cars or High-speed rail or theme park.” When I chat with my grandfather, there are always sentences like that. Apparently, life has a vast difference between 50 years ago and now, especially in transportation, education and entertainment. Firstly, transportation changed dramatically during last 50 years. The length of railway lines and road lines in service enlarged quickly. For example, the railway lines length was 33.9 thousand Km in total in 1960, and it sharply increased to 111.8 thousand Km in total in 2014. Similarly, the length of road lines was 519.5 thousand Km in 1960, then it grew as fast as railway lines’ length. In 2014, the road length reached to 4463.9 thousand Km according the data from National Bureau of Statistics of China. This development made people travel easily and efficiently, the most important result is it connected many places that had been isolated for many years and brought enormous economic income for those places. Furthermore, there are more choices to go to another place. For instance, the structure of transportation has been optimized. In the first several years of China’s founding, almost all kinds of transport depended on the railway, the percentage of it could reach to 90%. However, the railway passenger turnover percentage has declined to 36%, and the road passenger turnover has grown to 55%, is the ship passenger turnover number as the same as the railway. So we are have multiple choices to go wherever we want to go. For instance, before the Tibetan railway was completed, we couldn’t go to Tibet by train, we had to drove almost two weeks to get there. So, think about the situation before the Tibetan road completed. On one hand, the development of transportation is a benefit for us, thanks to high speed transportation, we can eat the fresh fruit come from thousands miles away. On the other hand, it cause serious traffic congestion. For example, “From October 2010 to September 2013, a total of 48,325 crashes were collected in the three-year period.”1 Secondly, the education in China grew so fast in the last 50 years. First of all, the school number grow vastly. For instance, there were 1289 high schools in 1960, but in 2014, the number of high school had increase to 2529. Therefore, we are seeing a nearly threefold increase in the school number in the past 50 years. Likewise, the private schools developing so fast. There is the case of Hong Kong’s private school development. The Education Commission Report No. 3, published in 1988, recommended the establishment of “a strong, independent private sector” (Education Commission,1988, p. 53). The report indicated that these private schools would become “a genuine alternative to the public sector” and would be “counted as part of the long term supply of school places” (Education Commission, 1988, p. 53).2 The figure below shows the changes in the number of private schools during 1958-1990. So, we can see the number of private schools in Hong Kong increased vastly between 1958 and 1991 from about 60,000 to 440,000. Finally, the way people in China relax has VF OR JUST REMOVE GET changed. In the past, people in China had few ways to relax. In the 1950s, the most popular entertainments for Chinese people included fireworks displays, art shows, and public gatherings. People received inspiration and feel great joy among the cheering crowds. Yangge performance and stilt walking became popular shows. “Chinese people liked to immerse themselves among the carnival groups, in which they experience an inspiring spirit of unity.”3 So, according to this, Chinese people like stayed together and celebrated their festivals. However, people want to know more about entertainment. For example, 50 years ago, there were no magazines about tourism and travel. As my grandfather said, books were the scarce resources that normal people couldn’t have. According to my grandfather’s memory, there were books just about Quotations Form Chairman Mao Tsetung. But now, we have a great many of books or magazines about entertainment. The table below shows the details about the magazine and journals numbers now. In addition, people want to spend more money on entertainment. The table below shows the data of the nonproductive expenditure per people annual. We can see the entertainment and education spending is 499.39 yuan in grand average in 1998. Then, we can see the increase between these two tables. The entertainment and education expenditure rose rapidly from 499.39 Yuan to 1535.9 Yuan during that period. It indicates that people in China spent more money on entertainment.
In conclusion, although China developed so fast, it has many serious questions, for instance, traffic congestion. In last 50 years, China made a vast progress, it changed a lot in many ways, especially in transportation, education and entertainment. So, maybe it is the time to slow down and face the problems. Furthermore, China might slow down the pace and just has some modifications in the next 50 years, but China will never stop. Reference: 1. Smyth, R., Mishra, V., & Qian, X. (2008). This picture shows a little girl that had lost her one eye. Due to fighting with each other, the people in Lebanon suffered from fear and violence. When the war started in this place, she had eating her family dinner. When they cleaned the kitchen, the explosion has taken her eye. However, the hope was shining in her only eye. She was wearing a beautiful necklace made by herself, and the bracelet too. She wanted to be a pretty girl who was same as other normal girl. Maybe the situation was mean to her, but she just kept the hope inside. She believed that the war was going to end. If I won a lot of money, l could go anywhere I wanted to, for example, Nepal.
If I decide to go out this week, I will go to New York. If you visit my country, I will take you to the famous park in my hometown, which named is Dahuoquan park. If I have enough time this year, I will go camping several time in national park. Most people would be a lot happier if they were satisfy for the things around them. If I were a whale, I could see the bottom of the sea. I’ll be annoyed this month if my package doesn’t arrive. If I had enough time this month, I could go back my country to visit my parents. 1. I want to visit Oymyakon, the coldest place people have lived ever!
The reason why I want to travel there is I want give myself a challenge. After that, I think life will stay normal, might have a little change. 2. I want travel around the world with my husband. As a family to see the colorful world together is the romantic event that I can imagine. When we get old, we can hold our hands and say that we saw the beautiful scenes around the world together. After that, I believe we will love each other more! 3. I want to have a photograph album in which I dressing like an ancient times person( eg. Tong dynasty) I love the culture from hundreds years ago, and I am fascinated by ancient clothing, especially in Song and Tong dynasty. The old traditional clothing are elegant, most of them made by hundred people in several months. So, I want to feel the clothing with thousands years culture in person. My friends might laugh after they see the photos, but I like it anyway. Clinton and Trump have similar opinions on this issue. Both of them believe that the main reason is the military force of China grow too fast. Clinton think that China has threaten the U.S. because China grow their military force to against other countties. According to Clinton:’ they're establishing military installations that again threaten countries we have treaties with’. However, Trump have little different views on this question. Trump has more radical thought, Donald Trump notes in “Our Country Needs a Truly Great Leader” “They're killing us…” In addition, the another reason why Clinton worry so much about China is Clinton believes China try to steal commercial secrets and government information in America. In contrast, Trump point out that “their leaders are much smarter than our leaders...” in his transcript “Our Country Needs a Truly Great Leader”. The young artist who paints nothing but beautiful misses half the world.
I totally agree with it. May be the beautiful things made people feel good, but the tragedy make people remember it for long time and can't forget it forever. For example, the four great tragedies of Shakespear, and the Liangzhu story in China too. For some people it's too pain to see the dark side of the world, but it still there and never disappear till the end. However, it let us see the wonderful side clearly, so I think it's beautiful too. |
